Help with April's Blocks (Also, September block is similar):

STOP!  READ THIS BEFORE YOU CUT YOUR BLOCKS!
To make the Triangle-Within-A-Square Blocks, you may either use the templates provided on the instruction sheet, the Tri-Recs tool, or any other ruler or method you may have.
First, BE SURE TO CUT MIRROR IMAGE PAIRS OF HALF-RECTANGLES TO MAKE YOUR STAR POINTS!!!
Note: These are NOT the correct colors for April!!

In other words, cut four left star points and four right star points. An easy way to do this is to cut your star points with two pieces of your fabric right sides together. If you don't do it that way, you'll need to cut four with the template right side up, and four with the template right side down.

If you're using the Tri-Recs tool or Kaye England's rulers, you'll be cutting the fabric on the 3-1/2" line to make a 3" finished square.

To sew a Triangle-Within-A-Square Block, line up a triangle piece with a half-rectangle star point as shown, lining up the funny little "magic angle" of the star point with the bottom of the triangle. The top of the star point will stick up higher than the triangle:

Press toward the darker star point first, then sew the other star point as shown. Line up the "magic angle" as before.

Press again toward the darker star point. The corners will look funny, but that's okay!
